Well, there you go, I've learned something new. I think it's a good idea to document these times, there have been various calls for images that do just that. I did hear someone say that they had seen too many Roadrunner cartoons and wouldn't be standing on the crosses marked on the ground to encourage social distancing.

Glenn DiPaola replied:

I'll go with the Roadrunners, especially since we have a roadrunner couple that live in our yard much of the time. That was one of my fav cartoons. I'll probably post some versions that I corrected and some with the markers. Just in case. Thanks Linda.

Nice capture of the details of Ryman auditorium. These seats remind me of church pews. Hope you're keeping well Glenn

Glenn DiPaola replied:

Thanks very much Linda. They should remind you of church pews. The Ryman was originally constructed in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle. It has a rich history, and I think covid-19 will be a chapter in it. The Ryman is still moving forward. When I was there in December, there were markers all over to maintain social distancing. In some of the images I'll be posting, I removed the post-its on the back of the seats, below the brass seat number tags. I may post an image with the markings as a document of this time. Otherwise, I'm settling into my new state of Arizona and happy to have missed this winter back east.

Artist's Description

This could be the best seat in the house that Ryman built. First row in the Balcony. Isle. Row A with an unobstructed view of the stage. You can wave at the performer and be seen.

I must also point out that some of the seats in this image have post-its on them. At the moment, this is one or two 2020 images where I have not removed the post-its. Ryman Rising is the other image.

That was one of the covid-19 protocols in the Ryman as they began to move forward with bringing music back where it belongs. My visit here was on December 7,2020.

About Glenn DiPaola

Glenn DiPaola

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. With my newest Fujifilm digital cameras, I am shooting for b&w and...
