Artist's Description
This is an old, stone bridge, (early 1900's), in Colt State Park in Bristol, RI - or as we called it when I was young, Colt's Drive. That is because it was Mr. Colt's drive to his farm. While Colt had that beautiful home in town, Linden Place, a few miles away was his large farm - over 450 acres and this house was called Casino - I don't know why. The bridge was built for a single horse-drawn carriage. When you came to this bridge all drivers were on the honor system. In my youth, you had to let the cars on the opposite side go before your side could. Simpler, and more polite, times.

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away.
