This is a monument to George Washington located in Washington Square in Philadelphia, PA, close to Independence Hall. The square is one of four in Philadelphia that were placed at the four corners of what was then the core area of the city. In the center of those four parks is City Hall. This monument quotes from Wahington's speech given on September 17, 1796, a little over 20 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.
