This is a macro image of a sunflower in a vase on a table. I took a series of macros over the course of a few days, recording the various transitions of these great flowers.
These images, and others like it, are included in my Large Graphics Collection, a series of themed images offering dynamic impact in larger spaces.
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. What a unique way of looking at a sunflower. I love the planes of color and contrasting textures and patterns. Wonderfully seen and captured, Glenn. LF
Lucinda Walter
Great presentation here with excellent spot on framing and details. Love how you brought out the green leaves contrasting to the yellow in the sunflower. Perfect work. Wishing you all the best. Stay safe! l/f

Thank you Lucinda. I did learn something with this one. Macros need to do more than get in close. That's not always easy to find, but great when you do. I did this in BW too, because that's my way, and I liked the tones, but I agree the color contrast here helps greatly with the emotion of that season.

Beautiful detail! Thanks for your lovely messages on my work Glenn, I always enjoy receiving your thoughtful comments. And you know I had to go back to Photoshop to try the dam photo in b&w after reading your comment. I think it suits it well. Happy new year to you, I hope that 2020 brings you much happiness.
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks very much Linda. I'm always trying things in BW. I still see the world that way most of the times.
