Such unusual colors of the cactus, I didn't know they came in purple tones. Lovely capture Glenn!

Glenn DiPaola replied:

Thanks much Linda. That's true. Purple is not common but that's the tone this one had. At the time at least. Maybe it's green now?

Hi Glenn. So you were in Arizona..... I just had to see what photos you would have here and I find that this gorgeous shot. This is the Santa Rita prickly pear cactus and it is a native to Pima County, Arizona, and was named for the Santa Rita Mountain range. What a gorgeous shot of this beauty! So were you in the Tucson area? Hope you will be posting more soon. l/f

Glenn DiPaola replied:

Thanks very much for both the compliment and the information. I will add that to my description. I was in Ft. Mohave, which used to be part of Bullhead City. My in-laws live there. I have more to post but I am starting them out on 500. I may change that since I post so little there. Thanks again.

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. With my newest Fujifilm digital cameras, I am shooting for b&w and...
