This 1905 wrought-iron gate, known as FitzRandolph Gate, is the official entrance to Princeton University's campus. It was funded by a bequest from Augustus Van Wickle in honor of his great grandfather, Nathaniel FitzRandolph, who donated four a half acres upon which Nassau Hall was built in 1756. That was the first building at the College of New Jersey, which later became Princeton University.

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. Thank you very much Linda. That wide lens makes it look like I am shooting from a low spot, but I'm standing up. Also, the gates are huge. If you drew a line across the top of the people in the center, that is where they would come up to in the gate. Grand is the right word. I do give some history of that building, Nassau Hall, in my closer image of it.
