Ah, the stillness. It must have been still to capture those amazing reflections. Wonderful shot Glenn, and your description compliments the image so well. Glad to hear that you're keeping well. When are you going to share some images of Arizona? You must have taken some. I've finished my Bachelor of Creative Arts Honours and now I have time to make art. Funny that, I enrolled in an art degree because I love to make art, and I spend more time doing research and writing essays than I do creating art. But I did enjoy the challenge and it's given me a great sense of achievement. Wishing you a happy festive season.

Glenn DiPaola replied:

Hi Linda! Yes, that was a great place to live - log cabin and all. I have images from Arizona, and more from Utah. Lots of them. Landscapes are not my usual subject, but here I am, surrounded by amazing landscapes. I haven't posted any because I started working with textures and tones and am still on that path. It's a lot of fun, but I think it's more personal than something to sell - so far. I'm very happy to hear that you completed your degree. Sounds like you have multiple paths to walk that are all good. Happy Holidays Linda!!

Fall is such a beautiful time of year and you have captured it beautifully here, the clear as glass reflection and the composition of the two chairs on the dock is wonderful. l/f

Glenn DiPaola replied:

Thanks very much Elaine. It was a good morning. It was the opposite of being still a week earlier, it was windy as could be, but that produced its own unique images.

Artist's Description

Across and around Lake Mishe-Mokwa, seen in my Blue Dock image, are homes. This is what people on the lakes do - sit on the dock and look at the water, and Beach 3 in this case. Or they swim, canoe, kayak, drink or all of them in no particular order. That is life in The Lakes.

About Glenn DiPaola

Glenn DiPaola

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. With my newest Fujifilm digital cameras, I am shooting for b&w and...
