Spring has finally started in the Mid-Atlantic States. One of the first highly visible flowers is found on Dogwood trees. We have both white and pink dogwoods in our area. Very pretty from any angle, in color or black and white. You can also find a classic color version of this image in my work, titled Dogwood Sky Light.
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. The wonderful shapes of the branches and blossoms, the beautiful tones of gray-scale, and just the overall mood and balance of a pleasing composition all result in a splendid image of fine artwork, Glenn! L/F G+
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks very much Kellice. This was some good timing and the right thought for exposure. A gray sky and full blooms. It lined up for me.
Lee Piper

Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thank you Lee.
Kume Bryant
So very beautiful, Glenn! l f
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks very much Kume. I'm happy to have it.
Linda Lees
Gorgeous high key floral image Glenn! It looks wonderful on the throw pillow and bags. L/F
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks much Linda. It was a surprise when I saw it on the material products. I went back and looked at other color images done in the same fashion and they too would work well. I need to get one posted here. I'm very happy with this. Getting gray skies to work to my advantage is not something that happens often.

Oooh, this is so very, very beautiful, Glenn!! Your composition makes for such a gorgeous design, and the light and detail are fabulous!!!! :)))vf
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks very much Laurie. It was an unusual shot for me. I was doing other compositions, looked up and started opening up the exposure. The lighter the image got, the nicer it looked. Not often when an overcast sky works in a photographer's favor.

Yay! It's springtime! This is lovely to see, Glenn! I like the fine details exposed this way, the delicate perfection of the shapely petals, & their intricate boughs organizing themselves gracefully overhead. The smaller bit of bough in the left background suggests continuum... there is more ... :))
