This is the historic Prescott Arizona Courthouse, set on 4 acres in the center of town. This courthouse was built in 1916, having replaced several earlier versions. Across the street to the right is Whiskey Row, famous in its own right, having hosted some well-known cowboys, such as Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp. Prescott was the Arizona Territorial Capital at a few different points in the 1800’s.
I have photographed this historic area before on previous trips but this time I took a tripod so I could shoot at a lower ISO. I feel this image captured what I see when I am standing there very well.
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. Thanks Linda. This is something I have handheld in the past but this time I broke down and took a lightweight tripod on the trip - just for this place. It took time to get it rendered the way I see it, but time well spent. It's a great little square.

Thanks very much Gene. I like that reflection too. It contains a timeline of Prescott's history, so it is a different texture than the other parts of the walkways.
