Artist's Description
This is the saw mill in Batsto Village, a large, historic preservation in Wharton State Forest in New Jersey. This building is large and sits on a river. Those doors lead to a ramp to get materials in and finished products out.
I have limited the maximum print size to 24 inches high. It is an intimate space and should be viewed smaller than what the image is capable of, 40 x 60. Please keep that in mind if using the magnification preview. The 24 inch print will be much sharper than the 60 inch preview shows.
About Glenn DiPaola
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. With my newest Fujifilm digital cameras, I am shooting for b&w and...

What wonderful window light. Nice work Glenn.
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thanks Betty. Those windows are hard to beat. 9 over 9 and dirty enough to diffuse direct sunlight. Whenever I am here I go have a look at them.

Great photo...Love the light and composition in your work ! L/F
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thank you very much John. I did get here at the right time of day for this one. It looks as if someone is still using it and just stepped away - in time.

I love all the shades of timber! Wonderful light on this charming, rustic scene. L/F
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thank you Linda. I was just here again last weekend but the light was not as nice as this day. A great place.

Thank you Connie. I've been in this saw mill a few times but the light was right this day. This place does have quite a history.

The light here is so beautiful. Wonderful details l/f
Glenn DiPaola replied:
Thank you. It is beautiful and it is extreme light and shadow in this mill. Takes some work to balance it out but it's time well spent. I'll be back here again before long.
