Artist's Description
This is the front porch of the mansion at Batsto Village. Batsto is a nationally recognized historic site traced back to 1766. It is located in Wharton State Forest in Southern New Jersey. It is not a huge mansion by today's standards but it was then. Here are some leaves in transition to winter.
About Glenn DiPaola
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was always b&w work, hand-processed in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun. After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years as well as doing commercial photography. In the 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until 2014. I started converting my color digital images to black and white whenever I saw them as intended for bw. I believe the eye you started with does not go away. This is really wonderful, Glenn!! There's something about it that I just love! I know I love those little crosses at the bottom of the image, and I love the branches' and leaves' shadows, too!!! I also really love the composition....the way the bench is centered up in the frame! :)))fv
