About Glenn DiPaola
I attended the University of Rhode Island where I studied photography under Bart Parker. I graduated with a BFA in fine art photography and a minor in communications. College was all bw work in the dark room, using many different cameras. It was great fun.
After college I worked in the photo-finishing business for many years. In the early 80's I started to shoot only color for my artwork and never returned to the world of black & white - until now. I am converting my color digital images to bw. I believe the eye you once had does not go away. What you saw in bw often lies behind the reason for creating a color image.
Whether it was part of my employment, or freelancing, I was often doing some commercial photography. When film faded, I left photo-finishing and turned to digital photography for my creative work.
My career also changed in a new direction as photography began to shift to digital and computer processing. I suddenly found myself in technical support, photography and videography. My first digital camera was the Kodak DC290 - with a huge 2 mp sensor. Now my phone is 4x that resolution.
My personal photography is usually reactive. I set out with an open mind and see what presents itself to me. I hope you enjoy the images I have posted.
I always sell my images at three sizes under the maximum allowed by the printing technology. For example, the preview image you see when using the magnification option is what it would look like at 36 x 36 inches but I will only sell that image at 20 x 20 maximum. I do this in order to assure a high quality print that my buyers will be happy with. Please keep that in mind when viewing the magnification.
