Description
...but you stay off of Carl Perkins' Blue Suede Shoes. Don't even think about it. A 1956, million-selling hit for Carl, it was covered by Elvis and many others including Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Paul McCartney and many more. It has been performed by the likes of Hendrix, Springsteen, Black Sabbath and Mary J. Blige. The shoes have been referenced in lyrics of other songs. This song was a big deal, and nearly 60 years later those shoes still will not be stepped on. And they never will.
On the left is an Elvis Presley record, Blue Moon of Kentucky, recorded in 1954 for visionary producer Sam Philips on the famous Sun Records Label. Elvis' first releases fused country, R&B, pop and gospel to create an original and incendiary style. Originally written by bluegrass legend Bill Monroe, it has been covered by John Fogerty, Patsy Cline, Jerry Lee Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, Paul McCartney, and Ray Charles to name a few. Where else are you going to see these two game-changing objects side by side? Nowhere else. Only there - and here.
